I had a few dodgy miles between 31 and 33 but rallied to have the kind of finish runners only tend to dream about - caught no less than 5 runners on the Hell of the West to finish in the top 10 apparently. 4:49:xx is a new ultra PB by over 4 minutes, despite the savage wind over the last few miles, so I'm absolutely delighted. Great day!
Real race report in a day or two.
Update: I came 9th overall and first man over 40!!!!
Well done Thomas - great racing. Beautiful report too (even if it wasn't real).
ReplyDeleteWell done Thomas, fantastic running.
ReplyDeleteWe await with anticipation Thomas, you sound very happy , delighted for you and well deserved K.
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff sir. What a cracking end to a big week of mileage as well.
ReplyDeleteSuper stuff Thomas.
ReplyDeleteGood one, Thomas; you're an inspiration. In comparison to your fabulous time, my 5h13m seems tardy but I've to be happy enough given it's a course PB of 8 minutes. Looking forward to your proper race report, Andrew.
ReplyDeleteExcellent result Thomas. Not only 4 minutes faster, but done with a 8 bpm lower average HR too... did you catch a bus?
ReplyDeleteRunning faster is great, but for me the lower HR is significant breakthrough and suggest much less heart rate drift, which bodes well from your your 24 hour race.
